Purpose: The New Castle Electromyographic Biofeedback Laboratory program is a satellite facility under the direction of Dr. Bernard S. Brucker Ph.D., Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, Director of Biofeedback at the Rehabilitation Center at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Medical Center, Florida. The main goal of establishing this program is to make the "Brucker Method" of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMGB) available to local and regional persons in the Mid-Atlantic area. Who May Benefit: People with physical disabilities resulting from spinal cord injury, head trauma, stroke, cerebral palsy or other central nervous system disorders can benefit from this treatment.
Methodology: The Electromyographic Biofeedback Laboratory at New Castle is dedicated to Dr. Brucker's method in developing new and innovative behavioral techniques including micro-processor technology for the restoration of function for people with physical disabilities. Our program utilizes Dr. Brucker's treatment method combined with EMGB to access and utilize existing neural cells in the brain and/or spinal cord for restoration of function. In essence, the EMGB process is used to train alternative cells of the brain and/or spinal cord that are not damaged to take over the task of damaged cells.
Our Facility: The EMGB laboratory at New Castle is complemented by a state of the art facility with over 12,000 square feet of space designed to increase the functional independence, strength and stamina of the people we serve. In addition, physical therapists at New Castle utilize various techniques in electrical stimulation, strengthening exercises and aquatic therapy to coordinate and enhance motor neuron development in conjunction with EMGB treatments.
Lodging: We have special discounts for motel lodging, transportation and regional attractions, call at (742) 654 - 4545.
