- Pre/Post Natal Aquatic Program
is a safe, pool-based exercise program designed for women wishing
to improve overall fitness and health, during and after pregnancy.
Physical Therapists and Aquatic Therapy Specialists provide a
unique and supervised exercise program enhanced by the natural
healing qualities of warm water. The program is offered to those
interested in improving quality of life and particularly, to
those with any of the following conditions:
-
Back
pain
Deconditioning
General
weakness
Edema
Chronic
fatigue
Stress
-
- Pre/Post Natal Aquatic Program
is an affordable exercise option enabling women to lessen the
effects of their pregnancy that may otherwise make it an uncomfortable
condition. Through the program, participants can take control
over some of the minor conditions (edema, low back pain and varicose
veins) that typically keep many from enjoying this special time.
The pool is located adjacent to an affiliated outpatient rehabilitation
clinic in a professional, clean and friendly environment.
-
- GOALS AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES
- Pre/Post Natal Aquatic Program
takes advantage of the natural healing qualities of warm water
including its ability to help relax muscles, eliminate spasms
and increase blood flow. Additionally, water provides buoyancy
(thereby reducing weight-bearing stressors), offers resistance
and decreases swelling (via hydrostatic pressure). Now individuals
may conquer past limiting factors and gain the many benefits
of exercise that may include:
-

|
Increased aerobic conditioning and
circulation thus helping to reduce risk of varicose veins |
-

|
Improved oxygen supply to your baby
and your body |
-

- Improved overall strength and
flexibility,
- decreased back pain
|

|
Foundation for a speedier return
to your prior fitness level |
